How do we respond when our way is thwarted?

How do we respond to life’s situations that block us, stop us, and/or thwart us?

After living through COVID-19 I am certain we all could say we have experienced this. Our life hums along  and then a big boulder or several BIG stones are plopped in our pathway.

It could be a health scare, job lay off, or a pandemic that steam rolls its way in and changes a life forever.

What do we do? How do we respond?

Here are a few negative, not so good, responses.

  1. Worry!
  2. Wring our hands.
  3. Bite our nails.
  4. Become angry.
  5. Become anxious and multiply the, what ifs, in our mind.
  6. Fear increases!
  7. Stuck
  8. Non movable.
  9. Then we might stop. Sit. Strategize and try to figure out the answer to stay in control.
  10. And yet, when we cannot fix it, it is out of our control.

So what does the Word say when life sends us a NO …

“ rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer… “ ( Romans 12:12NASB)

And recently I had a BIG NO, or a BOULDER dropped in my pathway. My hosting company of my website dropped the ball and have admitted they did so.

Phone call one, I immediately let them know the issue. I began to pray.

Phone call two… I picked up the phone again later in the day when it was not corrected and talked to a supervisor.

I was promised, 48 hours it would be secure. Not good.  I was firm and direct. Kind, but very truthful. I had paid for this service weeks ago…yet, my hands were tied for now. I cannot go in and do what these techy website hosting people do. Yet…it is my business store front.

Phone call three …when 48 hours was almost up, it was not fixed. Then I was told in less than 24 hours that my site would be up as it was in process.

That day came and went. And no change to my website.

Phone call four…  I spent 30 minutes on the phone waiting for a manager only to be told, no one is available for three hours.

I pray. I will not give up.

Endurance is a must on our purposeful pathway.

“ rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer… “ ( Romans 12:12 NASB)

Five steps when we are thwarted.

  1. Deal with the issue straight on. I called.
  2. Speak truthfully and kindly. I did. But, was firm as I had paid for this and do for their services.
  3. I asked for a supervisor and a manager. Move up the ladder to get heard. My father taught us on the farm, that the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Yes, tis true.
  4. Hold them accountable. Ask for recompense. I did.
  5. Surrender, after you do what you can. I had a family wedding over the weekend to celebrate and I was going to see many loved ones. And there was no way I was going to allow their neglect destroy the wedding festivities.

“ rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer… “ ( Romans 12:12 NASB)

  1. My hope is in the Lord, as I know He is very aware of Hearts with a Purpose and all the issues I bump up against.
  2. Perseverance and not giving up is a must on our purposeful road. Endurance is key.
  3. Devoted to prayer and yes, I had asked for prayer from many. “rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer… “ ( Romans 12:12
