Recovery Work- from the Idol of Perfectionism!

#RecoveryWork #Idol #Perfectionism

I so get this one. I am a recovering perfectionist and MUST stay intentional to stay out of the arms of this addiction and not bow to this god.

Recovery Work- from the Idol of Perfectionism!

It is addictive. If I perform to someone’s standard then I can achieve. No pain. No rejection. No toss me aside and be gone. It will keep me safe and secure, perform to his or her or their standard. Well, friend, let me tell you that does not work. I know so. And by the way if you are a woman on this sight, thinking if you are a perfect model, that will keep his eyes from straying to PORN, you are wrong.

No woman can compete with PORN.

Unless the man breaks to pieces. Just saying.

So how do we step free as we are deceived believing that perfectionism will fill our heart to keep us safe.

Recovery Work- from the Idol of Perfectionism!

We answer is this enough to satisfy the hole in our heart?

That would be a no, as perfectionism or performance never satisfies. It leads us to say, do, or achieve one more thing to try and receive validation for our worth. Deep down we yearn to be content, settled with ourselves, or whole. Yet that will only happen through an invisible umbilical cord attached to our Master Fashion Designer, God Himself.

To receive God requires flying a white surrender flag. To believe in a being that you cannot physically touch or look straight in the eye to have a conversation with requires faith. But through the eyes of faith one can fall in love with Jesus. He foreknew you. Predestined you. Created you. Called you, and justified you. Open your heart, let out the junk and let go of control of perfectionism and welcome Him in to fill the vacancy of your unmet need.
