Is it easier to live in denial?

That answer is no. It will catch up with you!

The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. (Psalm 145:18 NASB)

Betsy (not her real name) walked in, sat down, and said, “I am stuck.” I asked her what she needed prayer on.

She said, “My marriage.”  She was grieved to the core of her being. She learned recently of her husband’s porn addiction when she asked him, “What was he viewing on his tablet?” (And women be aware too if you are viewing porn. It ruins lives. Get help—like now!)

Betsy shared how she wandered and walked from room to room in their home. And on one day she sat on the floor and ate a bag of chips. She felt violated. Lied to. Betrayed. Used. Not good enough. Dirty. She said, I trusted him for all these 20 + years.

I coached her to be real, “You’re hurt, Betsy.  All that pent-up pain wants to be expressed. It’ll send
you into denial if you mask it. You’re grieving.”

I asked her, “ How do you feel? What do you feel?”

“Honestly, I am angry. Hurt. HOT! Ticked. Frustrated”.

I was proud of her for voicing. I asked, “What would you like to do?” She said, “I want to talk, seek counseling and coaching.”

Next, I had her vent by writing down her impressions and expressions on a coaching sheet I have. She wrote it ALL down. Anger. Sad. Worried.

Denial only masks the pain for a season.

We’re not made to keep emotional pain within us. So if you are experiencing pain, seek out a counselor and/or get into coaching.

And PORN is on the uptick. Statistics are showing that PORN and emotional abuse go hand in hand, like a wicked couple, and they destroy lives, including theirs.

What is it you need to be Truthful about with God and people?
