Are you addicted to the approval of others?
I read once that 10% – 15% of the people we meet in life will never like us.
Isn’t that lovely?
Because 85% to 90% will like us.
So why allow such a small number of people to control your life and scare you, in how you respond.
Let’s try this.
Put one of these words in the first blank to get you started.
If I ______________then _____________.
-
Confront
-
Speak out
-
Don’t do_____
-
Do
-
Speak up
-
Stop
-
Tell the truth
-
Don’t risk
-
Keep fearing
Bottom line, it comes down to pleasing the Lord. He is the one I will bow to someday. How about YOU?
“ For am I now seeking the favor of people, or of God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10 NASB).
I am a recovering people pleaser. I know this trap well. I no longer live for a committee of “they.”
