Does loneliness hurt more during the holidays?
I would say, yes. What would you say? Feel free to respond below.
I believe that the loneliness sting bites more for woman during the holidays.
Here is what I hear and see, the holidays bring:
- Memories
- Perhaps better days gone by, one thinks
- Family traditions
- Death/divorce/Grief
- Movies
- Triggers
- Scents
- Foods
- Stores loaded with cheer
- Scenes that resemble past time
- Isolation with COVID still
- Social Media posts of happy scenes
- New season of life
- Then women compare
And a woman may feel whether she is married or NOT, that she is forgotten, lonely, cut off, left behind, and it slices her right through the heart. Can you relate to the hollow, empty ache, of being alone, that you think it’s going to suck you in and not let you escape?
I do recall. Many years back, I ached horribly for years! And that is why I am super sensitive about the holidays for women whether she is in abuse, single, widowed, divorced, or married, that the holidays can be really really hard to navigate.
