How do you step out of sadness?

It’s polar opposite of what we think, or want to do. It’s to give thanks.

But DO ask yourself — are you living in abuse too? Or is this bondage to a bad attitude of sadness?

Tears leaked as I sat next to friend, Kay, in church. Currently,  I have a lot happening in my life. Good and challenging, and yet on Saturday night, I learned of a sad story, that could’ve sucked me backwards if I allowed it. But, I chose, NO!

How do you step out of sadness?

Sadness was one of the hardest things to release and cast off in my journey to embrace JOY. I lived in sadness for years and hid it as I grieved in an abuse. I could not show the sadness, as I was then accused. Oh, I tried to get empathy and explain it to him, the man that I was married to. But, in abuse, it is always put back on you, the victim, and it was.

I was told:

  • It’s always my fault.
  • I am too sensitive.
  • Always told I look for it.
  • And then told, I should not feel sad.
  • And told, ” to buck up”.

How do you step out of sadness?

Now, I am out of abuse and I stay on high alert to not fall down in that pit.

  • Do you live in abuse?
  • Do you live in a pit of sadness with the abuse?
  • Or is it an old habit that you have sucked up to?
  • Do you want JOY Instead?

The way to shift away from sadness to head toward joy is a choice.

  1. Recognize if you are in sadness Speak it.
  2. Begin to give thanks daily
  3. It takes work, like a JOB!
  4. Get help with shifting out of the sadness, as you have to want JOY more so, and to desperately run away from sadness toward the arms of Jesus and His Word which brings JOY! Lasting JOY!
  5. And if you are in abuse, do get help!
