When life is hard, what’s the best medicine during the holidays?
To Give thanks!
What, you may ask?
Holidays are not easy for many women let alone a normal day.
If your Thanksgiving doesn’t look like a picture from the latest magazine with a big stuffed turkey glazed-over with all the fancies setting on a dark golden platter, in the middle of the stretched out dining room table to fit and feed your 12 guests, give thanks, you are a live!
And yes, even if you have lost a loved one and this holiday season you’re missing them dearly, give thanks for their life and the precious memories you do have of them.
And yes, give thanks, even if you are sitting in your home alone, in a condo, a bungalow, or a tent. You are never alone if you’re a child of the King. He is alive. And give thanks you have a home.
And yes, give thanks when you see all the FB pictures in your feed over the holidays and you begin to cringe and want to compare, (do not, it gets you nowhere) remind yourself, everyone has had or will have a challenge in their life and to pray for them.
Give thanks, you can pray.
And yes, give thanks for the food you do have.
And yes, give thanks for the fingers you do have to help prepare the food.
And yes, give thanks for the friends and family that text you and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving or a Merry Christmas.
Give thanks.
And ask yourself, to whom can you reach out to?
Give thanks for them!
