Yes, emotional abuse ramps up over holidays!
The stage is set as a woman flips the pages, or scrolls through a magazine, website, or social media site. The powerful message flashes and splashes through her newsfeed of a perfect holiday.
A woman feast her eyes upon THAT and sighs!
What is wrong with me she wonders?
- Perfect clothes
- Perfect menu
- Matching accessories
- Perfect spouse, or family, or boyfriend.
- Traveling
- Exotic
- Excitement
- Fun
- Always a glow
- Games
- Food galore
- Love. Hugs. Kisses.
- Over the top so…
- And women get set up. And then wonder, what’s wrong with me?
- Especially women in emotional abuse.
Holidays are lifted high in our world today! Almost to an unrealistic standard of got to ATTAIN something, so the true empty void will not surface in their heart.
It’s a lot of stress and pressure and focus on one day or a weekend!
Another reason why abuse ramps up over a holiday, in my opinion, is so abusers do not have to feel their deep emotional pain and/or lack when a schedule slows down, like no work.
It’s a holiday. So they stay in control and in power. They go to extremes to make a holiday a day filled with activities, or to numb out, or to blast themselves in busyness.
Yet, there is no communication or conversation with you, the adult, and if there is, it may be as shallow as a mud puddle.
The realization for you of an empty relationship maybe more pain filled for you, the woman, when it’s a day set aside for making memories!
It’s as if the holiday HIGHLIGHTS the brokenness of your relationship!
So what do you do?
What if you removed yourself at the most pain filled times? And find something of purpose for you.
