Joy (not her real name ) reached out to me to be coached. She wanted to know what God’s will was for her life. She had already tried reading her Bible longer and going to church more regular. She attended a new Bible study and chose to work longer days at work. Plus, she got out of bed earlier and added exercising into her life. She thought if she kept adding new activities into her life that would change her. However, her thought life clicked the same O’ to lies, you cannot change. You are worthless. You have no value. You are such a failure. You are a loser. No one cares about you.
Onward the lie gear cranked, running truth right out. That led her into bondage of anger, anxiety, chaos, fear, frustration, jealousy, and worry. Exhausted, Joy felt old. Heavy. Rusty. Dead, yet she was only 38 years old.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NASB)
Joy and I went to work. The renewal of her mind to the truth of who God said she was. It took days, weeks, and months for Joy to shift to the truth gear.
The mind is our control center. You are the controller. Think of our mind as housing two round gears. One gear grinds lies. The other grinds truth. The more forceful gear grinds out the quieter or weaker gear. So what you think on will dictate which gear overpowers, the truth gear or the lie gear. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Eventually Joy won over the lies that came from family traditions, culture, shaming, and fashion media. Now she can hear the Truth better and knows in what direction God has called her. After all, the Word speaks truth.
