Who cares & what difference does it make?
Completing my speaking topic to women in church leadership, I collected their written responses. I had asked women to jot down descriptive words of the needs of their heart.
With sadness, I prayed silently for the woman who had written,
“Who cares, what difference does it make?” I tucked her answer away and read rest of the responses.
As I drove home, I tried to recall the women’s faces. One face stood out, not for the woman’s beauty, but for the magnitude of sadness and despair written on her countenance. She appeared ready to drop out of life. Maybe the note had been written by her.
If so, my heart was knit to a kindred sister.
Have you ever been that close to becoming a dropout—from life? I have!
I posted the heart-shaped note in my office and prayed regularly for the woman who wrote it.
I believe other women are also asking, “Who cares, what difference does it make?”
Women get stuck in feelings of hopelessness, despair, and anxiety. Whatever the issue, God’s care outweighs our anxiety if we trust Him.
I choose to believe, He cares. I know He cares.
You see, I could have written that same note years ago, “Who cares, what difference does it make?” I lived a painful existence in the house on the hill and only Jesus saw behind every door. I chose to cast my anxieties on Him because of the unchanging truth, Jesus cares. And so do I.
We’re told to “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you” (I Peter 5:7 NASB) Jesus cares for you… and me.
- Name one area of your life you are anxious about. Will you choose to cast that anxiety upon Jesus?
